CANGO Fleet Management Systems
What is an FMS interface? An FMS (Fleet Management System) interface is an electronic device used to read the data from a vehicle data network and translate the data into standard FMS (J1939) data or RS232 serial data, which is then readable by many after-market systems, or used for custom programmed systems. The CANGO FMS interface offers more than just streaming data. CANGO processes the data inside using state of the art algorithms. This highly advanced FMS interface can connect to vehicle data networks like CANbus, J1939, J1708 / J1587, K-Line, L-Line and proprietary data networks and translate the data into standardised protocols like CANBUS FMS / J1939 and RS232 at the same time.
Readings:
The data available via the databus include the fuel consumed, the time of operation and the distance travelled, etc. This data can naturally be used to calculate the fuel consumed, instant and average fuel consumption, instant and average speed and the distance travelled. Depending on the features of the auxiliary FMS interface, this data can be processed in various other ways and communicated to an office-based follow-up, monitoring or maintenance systems. This allows the vehicle operator to enable systems to reduce fuel usage, reduce vehicle emissions, monitor driver activity, optimise routes and vehicle loading and operation. Result is a better bottom line!
From the interface, the vehicle data can be processed by third-party equipment. This gives the operator access to a number of different systems and features, making the equipment compatible with other systems in the fleet. Some of these systems already combine vehicle functions with GSM communication and GPS navigation and positioning.
Key Benefits:
- Flexibility: one solution for your entire fleet (trucks, prime-movers, trailers, buses, coaches, machinery, trenchers, vans, cars, construction and agriculture equipment)
- Read-only the vehicle / equipment CAN-bus data
- Process the data via internal algorithms often more accurately than vehicles manufacturer's gateway
- Detailed information about trip, engine and driver behaviour
- Possibility to economise on fuel consumption from 5% up to 15% / reduce CO2
- Improve driver behaviour
- Optimise loads and routing
- Easy to connect with all telematic devices with the appropriate device inputs
- Advanced Driver Assistance ready in a transparent way
The vehicle computers (EDC, Retarder, Opticruise, EBS, ABS etc.) all communicate via an on-board CAN bus. As an option, the vehicle's data bus can be provided with an interface that slots part of the information out through a firewall - one-way only - in a standardised encoded format (J1939) to a standardised interface. The firewall and interface are necessary to safeguard against hazards caused by interference with the vehicle's computer systems. CANGO assures the integrity of the vehicle database regardless of which FMS system is connected. From the interface, the vehicle data can be processed by third-party equipment. This gives the operator access to a number of different systems and features, making the equipment compatible with other systems on the fleet. Some of these systems already combine vehicle functions with GSM communication and GPS navigation and positioning.
Note that unlike the other CANBUS units you may be used to or that we provide, the output for this device is only RS232 and CANBUS J1939. We may be able to optionally offer a switched signal output interface.
